Turning Into the Bionic Woman!

I blinked, and a couple of months passed!  I had lots of visitors and adventures in June and July, but the biggest update is that I got a new hip!  The surgery I had to repair my hip four years ago didn’t really work, so the only thing left to do to relieve the pain, and to improve my quality of life, was to get a total hip replacement.  So, I did: surgery was on July 11th.  I’m still in the early stages of recovery, but I’m walking with a walker and am able to do just about all “activities of daily living” on my own.

Two days after total hip replacement.

A true testament to the strength of friendships forged in the military, my friend Daria flew all the way out from Texas to take care of me 😊

Not sure when the next phase of my transformation will begin, but a total shoulder replacement is the next step. But hopefully there will be a couple of 2-wheel adventures before then!

  1. Glad your hip replacement is going well. Sandy may be reaching out to you in the not too distance future. Her fibromyalgia and arthritus keeps her in constant pain. It’s hard to watch sometimes. But she is the one who has to say enough is enough. We hope and pray that your recovery continues and that you heal completely and quickly. We love you, Sunshine.

    1. Thank you. Once my joint pain started limiting my riding and hiking, I knew I had to do something to improve my quality if life. I’m happy to share my experience so far with Sandy whenever she’s ready 🥰

    1. Thanks John! Though the word “compliant” is not usually used in the same sentence as me, I am being a very compliant patient right now, so I hope it pays off 😀
