The thought of narrating a recap of the year is proving to be overwhelming, so I decided to just share some of my favorite landscape photos that I took during this year’s adventures. This is not a comprehensive reflection of all I did this year, it’s simply a collection of photos, in no particular order, that I found interesting and wanted to share π
Fishing boats in port at Dennis Point Wharf in Pubnico, Nova Scotia Canada. The water was so clear, you really couldn’t tell which seaweed was below the water’s surface and which was below.
Traditional Costa Rican breakfast of gallo pinto, farm cheese, egg, tropical fruits, and strong coffee traditionally made in a chorreador.Nutritious, filling, and delicious!
Scorpion lit up by black light during a night jungle hike in Rainmaker Conservation Park in Costa Rica. The night jungle was so loud and filled with wildlife you couldn’t see in the daytime.
Gorgeous views and mountain laurel along Highlands Scenic Highway, West Virginia.
The grouper that I caught being cleaned right on the boat before we even went back ashore. It doesn’t get any fresher than that!
Dolphins swimming alongside a cataman offshore Manual Antonio, Costa Rica.Every now and then, they would veer away from the boat to jump and flip in the air.
Scenic views coming and going alongthe Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. This route is a bucket-list motorcycle ride for good reason.
Purple Loosestrife highlighting one of the hundreds of islands dotting the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania.
The Appalachian Trail runs right next to the 92-foot granite War Memorial Tower on the summit of Mount Greylock in Adams, Massachusetts.A twisty ride up to this scenic spot was a blast!
One of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever eaten was at Luke’s Lobster in Newport, Rhode Island.YUM!
Taughannock Falls continuing to carve out a 400-foot gorge near Ithaca, New York.
Acadian deportation memorial at Fort Anne National Historic Site in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada. An exact replica can be found in front of the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum in my hometown of Houma, Louisiana, where many of the descendents of those deported Acadians reside.
Red Bluffs geoloical formation carved out by the Pearl River in Foxworth, Mississippi. This was a great fieldtrip with my aunt and uncle during a pitstop at their house.
View of Pacific Ocean from Parque Nahome in Quepos, Costa Rica. The park was walking distance from my host family’s home.
Nauyaka Waterfalls in Costa Rica. A snack of fresh tropical fruits and a dip in the waterfall pool after an arduous hike to the upper falls made for an iconic Costa Rican sightseeing day.
The warning sign at the base of Mount Washington Auto Road in Green’s Grant, New Hampshire was absolutely accurate; not for the faint of heart!
Mount Washington Auto Road in Green’s Grant, New Hampshire. I don’t have any issues with heights, but the contrast between the road ahead and the sheer drop-offscertainly had me focused more than usual.
Iguana sunning itself on the beach in Manual Antonio National Park, Costa Rica. This one was as long as my arm!
Louisiana blue-claw crabs right before they were boiled and found their way into my belly!
Low tide at Halls Harbor in Nova Scotia can recede up to 53 feet, leaving fishing boats stranded until the water funnels back in about six hours later.
Gateway to the Blues museum and visitor center along Hwy. 61, the Blues Highway, in Tunica, Mississippi. Excellent exhibits inside giving history and context to a ride along this storied highway.
Flowerpot rocks at low tide in Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park in New Brunswick, Canada.Just a few hours before I took this photo, the water was as high as the tide marks you see delineated on the rocks by dark brown against tan.
Red-eyed tree frog in La Fortuna, Costa Rica.It was thrilling to see this tiny explosion of color in its natural habitat.
